Commission a Painting
If you would like a painting in oils or acrylics, I paint a variety of subjects including portraits, pets, your family home or your favourite scene. If you live within 20 miles of Worthing, West Sussex, I am more than happy to come and photograph yourself, your home or your pet for a small fee. Alternatively, I can set up a small studio in my home if you would like to bring your subject here.
PHOTOS:
For any commission, I will require some good quality photos (several if possible and at least 7”x5”) by post or email. Ideally it would be best if these photos are taken on a camera with a higher megapixel amount, such as a DSLR, so that I have access to finer details within the image. The best file types for these would preferably be RAW, or jpeg.
If you would like a painting of your house or your favourite scene / location, please consider when it would look at its best. This could be a particular season, such as the spring flowers, the winter snow or the autumn colours. Another factor to consider is what time of day would the scene look best, such as the low light, long shadows and vivid colours of the sky at sunrise or sunset.
PORTRAITS:
As mentioned previously, high quality photos are crucial in order to capture the features of the person. It’s also best to discuss the finer details of how you would like the painting to look so please get in touch if you’re interested. We can also discuss other points such as size, canvas type, background, estimated time of completion and payment.

Ideally I’d appreciate it if you could send me a few good, high quality photos of the person that you would like a commission of. I can then get in touch with any suggestions. The quality and detail of the final painting highly depends on the quality of the photo.
PETS:
For pets I require good quality photos (preferably at least 7”x5”) particularly of the face and eyes. Consider whether you would like a full body portrait or just a close up of the head and shoulders. Please also consider the type of background – a diffuse background or a detailed background.
The price of the finished painting will depend on size, and the type of canvas. Postage will be extra.
Additional pets will be charged at an extra £75 per animal. Please call me to discuss your requirements – it’s a much easier way to discuss how you would like your finished painting to look. I require a 20% deposit before starting a commission.
When the painting is finished I will send you an email or photo of it for your approval. If there is anything that you would like changed it can be done at this stage. If you are happy with the photo then I will require the balance of the payment. On receipt of this I will send your painting by insured secure delivery.
In the UK by Royal Mail Special Delivery and abroad by Royal Mail Airsure.
As a guide, this is the basic cost of an unframed pet painting but please email me for a more detailed quote.
